Religion and Politics

- You want a country run by religion: move to Iran or wait for the Second Coming-

Intertwining faith and politics is a slippery slope. Freedom of religion is essential to God’s plan. People need to be able to choose what they feel is the truth so that they can be held accountable for their choices. Inundating the government with religion may ultimately cost us our freedom of religion. This is why I am grateful for the political process that exists. We can keep the ultra liberals who want to take God out of everything from succeeding, and we can keep the ultra conservatives who want everyone to accept Jesus from succeeding. All the stuff fought about in between is of little consequence (Prayer in schools, evolution, posted commandments in the court house.) However, I must admit that I am a staunch advocate for mentioning that evolution is not the only theory and is not complete. I think people will become thirstier as more aspects of religion is taken out of government. Therefore, they will more readily recognize the truth when they hear it. The truth will be like a waterfall in the desert and the wanna-bees will be a disappointing mirage.

Truer words were never spoken! And actually I found very little to cheer about to keep the blood flowing - we lost 0-4. Fortunately for the second game I sat very close to another mom wrapped in a borrowed blanket.
